For the Spring 2026 Season GGSL offers the following divisions: 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and Middle School The spring 2026 6U-12U division eligibility is based on the players age as of September 1, 2026, this is in line with the age requirements established by USSSA. 6U Division - 11in balls; hit off "T" and some coaches pitch - must be 6 years old or younger as of 8/31/25 (no younger than 4 years old) - Games will be played against other GGSL 6U teams in Greentown - Week Day games/practices (NO WEEKENDS except for Saturday winter work-outs that are optional Jan.- Mar.) - Smaller team size to facilitate 1:1 instruction from coaches; Approx. 6-7 players per team - 6U is focused on introducing players to the game of softball and giving them a good foundation to build upon as they grow within the game. 8U Division - 11in balls; Coaches Pitch with player pitch as an option on occasion from 35 feet - must be 8 years old or younger as of 8/31/25 (6U eligible players will be asked to demonstrate their skills before being allowed to move up into the 8U division) - Games will be played against other local 8U teams: Tri-Central, Northwestern, Russiaville, Tipton, etc. Teams will travel to local leagues to play as well as play in Greentown. - Week day games/practices (NO WEEKENDS except for Saturday winter work outs that are optional Jan.- Mar.) - Average team size to facilitate individualized instruction from coaches; Approx. 11-12 players per team - 8U focuses on basic softball skills and works towards developing them as softball players. It is recommended that players interested in pitching begin developing that skill in this division. 10U Division - 11in balls; Player Pitch from 35 feet - must be 10 years old or younger as of 8/31/25 (8U eligible players will be asked to demonstrate their skills before being allowed to move up into the 10U division) - Games will be played against other local 10U teams: Tri-Central, Northwestern, Russiaville, Tipton, etc. Teams will travel to local leagues to play as well as play in Greentown. - Week day games/practices (NO WEEKENDS except for Saturday winter work outs that are highly encouraged Jan.- Mar.) - Average team size to facilitate individualized instruction from coaches; Approx. 11-12 players per team - 10U focuses on basic softball knowledge and skills to prepare players for a higher level of play. 12U Division - 12in balls; Player Pitch from 40 feet - must be 12 years old or younger as of 8/31/25 (10U eligible players will be asked to demonstrate their skills before being allowed to move up into the 12U division) - Games will be played against other local 12U teams: Tri-Central, Northwestern, Russiaville, Tipton, etc. Teams will travel to local leagues to play as well as play in Greentown. - Week day games/practices (NO WEEKENDS except for Saturday winter work outs that are highly encouraged Jan.- Mar.) - Average team size to facilitate individualized instruction from coaches; Approx. 11-12 players per team - 12U focuses on not only improvement of basic skills and game knowledge but also is an opportunity for players to sharpen their skills and be ready to move up to the next level of competition in MS. Middle School Division - 12in balls; Player pitch from 43 feet - Players must be in grades 6, 7, or 8 at Eastern Middle School (or homeschooled) (12U eligible players will be asked to demonstrate their skills before being allowed to move up into the MS division) - Games will be played against other MS teams: Tri-Central, Northwestern, Russiaville, Tipton, etc. Teams will travel to local schools to play as well as play in Greentown. - Week day games/practices (NO WEEKENDS except for Saturday winter work outs that are highly encouraged Jan.- Mar.) - Try Outs required - exact date TBD - Roster will be limited to 24 and be split into a Green and a Gold team based on try-outs and ability. - MS is designed to get players ready to step into the high school softball program at EHS.
